Has Biden announced plans to fund veterans?

On February 5, 2021, a Facebook post on America’s Last Line of Defense page claimed that US President Joe Biden had announced his intention to cut funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The story appears to have originally been published on January 4, when Biden was still president-elect:

In a stunning move that only serves to deepen the wounds of many of our bravest Americans, President-elect Joe Biden has announced that he will immediately withdraw funding from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Millions of veterans and their families depend on the health care and benefits provided by the VA.

Cutting these essential services will create great hardship for some and a virtual death sentence for others.

“They knew what they were getting into.”

These are the insensitive words uttered by Biden when asked how he could possibly do this to our veterans. As if the mental and physical scars suffered in the battle to secure our freedom and our great oil interests weren’t enough, this latest blow across the bows of our retired troops sends a clear message to all military veterans, current and potential futures: The Democratic Party doesn’t care about you.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doubled down on Biden’s bet by saying she will introduce legislation that will redirect VA funding to provide health care to undocumented immigrants.
