AHEAD: US HIV Epidemic Analysis Dashboard

What’s AHEAD?

The American HIV Epidemic Dashboard (AHEAD) is an online data visualization tool showing national and jurisdictional data on the six indicators used to track our collective progress towards the overarching goals of the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative: to reduce new HIV infections by 75% by 2025 and 90% by 2030. The dashboard provides the 57 EHE jurisdictions, the federal government, and other stakeholders the most recent information available on EHE progress to help inform jurisdictional and national decision-making.

What data is tracked and for which jurisdictions?

AHEAD provides an aggregated, data-centric view of the EHE initiative using six indicators:

  • HIV incidence
  • Knowledge of HIV status
  • HIV diagnostics
  • Link to HIV medical care
  • Virus removal
  • PrEP coverage

Data for each indicator is provided at the national level and for the 48 counties; Washington D.C.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico; as well as the seven states involved in phase I of the EHE. AHEAD also presents data on the 21 states in which one or more EHE jurisdictions are located to provide additional context on the HIV epidemic in the areas surrounding these jurisdictions.
